Dover Repair Café (last Wednesday of the month)

Repairing items and giving them a new lease of life. Amen to that!

At #oldfindsnewstories, we aim to reduce waste, by giving preloved, second-hand items a new lease of life.

So of course we’re happy to do whatever we can to support and promote Dover Repair Café.

We’ll have a small pop-up stall there on Weds 26 June.

Last month’s fix-it community get-together – tea and cake on offer too – was part of #thebigfix2024, a nationwide event to keep items out of the bin and in use, as Dover Repair Café puts it in their Facebook listing.

A team of volunteer fixers kindly give up their time and offer their skills at this monthly community event at Biggin Hall in Dover town centre, east Kent.

As the event listing on Facebook also puts it, “saving you money, keeping items out of the bin and preserving our Earth’s precious resources”. What’s not to like?

Appointments aren’t necessary; we’re invited to turn up on the evening with items that are past their best, but still have life left in them.

We’d been meaning to get to Dover Repair Café for ages, so after our first visit, and pop-up stall, at the end of May, we hope this will become a regular date in our diaries in 2024.

Many thanks to the organisers and volunteers.
